Description:
451 10th Ave, The Set, is a mixed use building on the periphery of Hudson Yards. The basement through 4th floor contain commercial, with a restaurant, medical facility, and gym as the tenants. Floors 5 through 13 contain luxury senior living, and floors 14 through 45 are residential rental. Building amenities include a rooftop pool surrounded by a 30ft structural pergola, a rooftop bar and restaurant, and multiple landscaped roof terraces. Isolated concrete jack slabs support the tenant gym space and the intermediate mechanical floor, acoustically separating them from the adjacent residential spaces.
Structure:
Tocci Engineering provided full structural engineering design for the base building and accessory components. The structural system is cast in place flat plate concrete with lateral loads resisted by a dual system of shearwalls and slab frames. Founded on rock the building is supported by spread footings, with rock anchor tie downs to resist overturning uplift forces.
Tocci Engineering also acted as the concrete Special Inspection agency, providing a full time engineer on site for rebar and concrete inspections.
