Nat Tocci, PE

Nat Tocci is the technical lead at Tocci Engineering. He has over 15 years of experience in leading the design and construction administration of numerous buildings constructed in New York City, including high-rise, large academic buildings, hospitality, and residential buildings. His high-rise experience includes expertise in wind tunnel testing, supplemental damping, and performance-based design.

Nat arrived at engineering via a more hands-on path than most. While always interested in the sciences, his inclination towards getting dirty initially led him into the trades where he worked for several years. Returning to school, Nat earned degrees in Mathematics and Engineering, ultimately earning a MS in Structural Engineering from UC Berkeley. His combination of hands on experience and technical skills has earned him a reputation for providing practical and buildable solutions on even the most complex of projects.

Nat has designed and overseen numerous large and complex projects through construction in the unique NYC building environment. Notable past projects in NYC include the Robin Hood Crown Heights charter school, the Crosby St. Hotel, Gotham West, and the restoration of Trinity Wall St. Beyond NYC Nat previously worked in San Francisco where he was involved in complex projects including buildings in regions of high seismicity and projects outside the US including tall building projects in China and Turkey. Recent NYC projects of note include The Set, a 550ft tall residential tower in Hudson Yards, and 30 Warren, a boutique condominium with a number of structural challenges.

Clients and contractors appreciate Nat’s practical solutions, technical abilities, and understanding of how buildings get built in NYC.
